The mission of Cub Scouting is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral decisions throughout their lifetime by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. This is accomplished through belonging to a group, advancement, family involvement, activities, and service. Our activities include rocket building, car racing, outdoor skills, camping, hiking, fitness, food drives, STEM, music, citizenship, safety and preparedness, and community engagement. In short, lots of fun!
Scouts will experience many things through Den and Pack meetings while working towards their rank. Some (but not all) of the special events our Scouts have the opportunity to participate in are:

Yes. We welcome Scouts from any school. Our Pack activities and community service are centered in the Oak Hills/Bethany area. If you are will to commute to us, we'd love to have you!
Absolutely! Anyone currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome to join our Pack.
Cub Scouts is made of kids ranging from Kindergarten up to the 5th grade. During the 5th grade, Scouts will transition, with the assistance of our Pack, from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA.
Achievements are earned and awarded through various activities throughout the year, culminating in the rank advancement at the end of the school year. The Den and Pack leadership will guide you through meeting the specific requirements. Scouts can also use the handbook to explore many elective badges of their interest on their own.
Cub scouting provides ready made opportunities for families to enjoy fun activities together. The Pack belongs to all of our families, not just the adult volunteers. Parents or other individuals who play a parenting role help impact the Scout's experience. They help in scout's achievement including recording, assist with Den and Pack activities, volunteer to serve in the Den or Pack, and drop off and pick up Scouts promptly for activities. Scouting promotes family togetherness!
Scouting can be tailored to the degree of commitment you are looking for. Generally there are activities once per week during the school year, and once per month over the summer. Most people participate in most activities. People looking for additional involvement can volunteer for leadership positions and do Scouting activities on their own.
You do not need to be religious to join Scouts. Our Pack (as are many) is chartered by a religious organization. Our chartering organization -Oak Hills Christian Reformed Church- provides the facilities for our Pack to use and we fall under their non-profit status. Pack 726 welcomes all families from all beliefs and places of worship.
The Boy Scouts of America is, and always has been, non-sectarian meaning you do not have to be religious or belong to a specific religion to join. That being said, we do want to recognize that there is a religious element in Cub Scouts. The Scout Oath starts "On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law." The word "Reverent" is part of the Scout Law and Scouts will say a prayer before each meal at summer camp. Additionally, most Scouts will have a yearly Duty to God adventure that they will need to complete to fulfil their rank requirements.
Article IX, Section 1 of the Charter and Bylaws of the Boy Scouts of America states:
The recognition of God as the ruling and leading power in the universe and the grateful acknowledgment of His favors and blessings are necessary to the best type of citizenship and are wholesome precepts in the education of the growing members. No matter what the religious faith of the members may be, this fundamental need of good citizenship should be kept before them.
Our Pack has Scouts and their families complete the Duty to God adventure at home. As we understand there are many different beliefs, we leave it up to families on how they approach the discussion of God. As you do not have to be religious to join Scouts, families are welcome to focus on the "good citizenship" aspect of these requirements. For example one of the Duty to God requirements reads: "Discuss with your parent, guardian, den leader, or other caring adult what it means to do your duty to God. Tell how you do your duty to God in your daily life." A family may choose to discuss what it means to do good and how they do good in their daily life, or they may choose to discuss how Scouts know what is right and wrong and how they make that determination in their daily life.
We are happy to work with families on how they can best complete these requirements.
The majority of our Pack and Den meetings and activities take place at Oak Hills Christian Reformed Church located at 2800 NW 153rd Ave., Beaverton, OR 97006. Special events or activities make take place off-site. Families will be informed of any location changes in advance.

Both Cub Scouts and Scouting BSA are programs of The Boy Scouts of America. Cub Scouts are for children grades kindergarten through 5th grade. During their 5th grade year, Scouts will "cross over" to Scouting BSA where they will remain until they are 17 years old.
Your Scout will be in both a Pack and a Den.
Dens are arranged by grade (no matter a Scout's school or gender) and Scouts are in the Den for the rank in which they are working to earn:
Lions: kindergarten
Tigers: first grade
Wolves: second grade
Bears: third grade
Webelos: fourth grade
Arrow of Light: fifth grade
All six Dens together make up a Pack. Scouts will participate in both Den and Pack activities.
You can find more Scouting terminology here.
You can find more information on your Scout's Den here.
Depending on a Scout’s rank, they will wear one of three uniform tops.
Lion Scouts will wear either the Lion t-shirt uniform or a blue Cub Scout uniform top.
Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Scouts will wear the blue Scout uniform top.
Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts will transition to the tan Scout uniform top which they will continue to wear as they transition to Scouts BSA.

Scouts and their families are in age/grade specific groups called Dens. All of the elementary school age Dens together are called the Pack. Scouts and their families and adult volunteers work together to make the Pack go. Packs in our region are supported by a district and a council.
